Neither. Acima offers lease-to-own transactions — it isn't a loan, credit, or financing. Acima buys the items from us and leases them to you, and they're yours once you complete the lease renewal payments or use an early purchase option.

Yes, and it's the easier way to do it. Get approved first so you know your budget, then add your items to the cart and check out using your approval. You don't need anything in your cart to apply, and you have 60 days to accept your lease offer.

A perfect credit history isn't required. Acima obtains information from consumer reporting agencies during a lease application and weighs multiple data points, regularly approving people with less-than-perfect credit. Not all applicants are approved.

You're all set to shop within your approved amount. Add your items to the cart and select Acima at checkout — the same option you were approved with. That makes sure your order is processed under your approval and ships as soon as it's confirmed.

It depends entirely on how you pay. Using the 90-day early purchase option costs the Acima cash price plus a small purchase fee, typically around $25 depending on your state — by far the cheapest way to own. Making every scheduled lease renewal payment through the full term costs significantly more, and Acima's own disclosure states a standard 12-month agreement may cost more than double the cash price. Your exact numbers are shown in your lease agreement before you sign.

You have to ask for it. This is the single most important thing to know: you are not automatically enrolled in any early purchase option, and your regular scheduled payments will not buy the items outright in 90 days. Call Acima at 801-297-1982 or chat with them through your account to set one up. The 90-day window starts the day you receive your merchandise. In California it's a 3-month option.

There's still a second early purchase option. After the 90-day window you can pay a lump sum percentage of your remaining total lease amount — generally around 65%, varying by state — and own the items early at a discount. You have to call to set this up too.

60 days to accept your lease agreement offer. If you haven't signed in that window you can reapply.
